Richard Wellman, a psychiatrist, 47
NEW CITY — Funeral services were scheduled for today at 11:45 a.m.for psychiatrist Richard Wellman, who was found dead Monday in his office at 126 N. Main St.
Dr. Wellman, 47, was born in New York. He earned his undergraduate and medical degrees from Cornell University and completed his internship at Rochester General Hospital. He did his psychiatric residence at Youth Institute. Ossining, and at Gracie Square Hospital, New York City.
Joining the staff of Rockland County Community Mental Health Center in 1966, he was named head of the adult services division in November of 1971. Failing health prompted his resignation in February of 1972.
Dr. Wellman had given much of his time and experience to schools and community groups connected with drug abuse and dependency.
Survivors include his wife, Marion; a daughter, Jennifer, and a son, Mark, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wellman, and a brother, Harvey, all of New York.
Services were at Riverside Funeral Chapel, New York, with burial in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Valhalla.

Dr. Richard Wellman Weds Marion MantellMiss Marion Mantell, daughter of Mrs. Joseph Mantell of Elmhurst, Queens, and the late Mr. Mantell of Montreal was married to Dr. Richard Wellman in Temple Rodeph Sholom yesterday. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wellman of New York. Rabbi Louis I. Newman performed the ceremony.
The bride, escorted by her brother, Dr. Gerald Mantell, had her sister-in-law, Dr. Harriet Mantell, as matron of honor. Richard Richardson was the best man.
Mrs. Wellman is a speech and hearing therapist in the Valley Stream, L. I. schools, graduated from McGill University and received an M. A. degree from Syracuse University. Her husband, a psychiatrist, is an alumnus of Cornell University, where he did graduate work.
