Mrs. Mittman, 72, Dies Suddenly

Stroke of Apoplexy Late Saturday Afternoon Proves Fatal

Mrs. Ernestine Mittman, 72, died suddenly at her home, 905 West Third Street, late Saturday afternoon. Death came as the result of a stroke of apoplexy.

She was born Feb. 6, 1859, in Hamburg, Germany, being a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Riek. She came to this country at ten and has made Muscatine her home since.

She was married to George Mittman at Muscatine on Dec. 10, 1880. Mr. Mittman preceded her in death. She was a Cedar Street Methodist Episcopal Church member and the Ladies Aid of that denomination.

Surviving are three sons, Oscar, Ben, and William, all of Muscatine; three daughters, Mrs. Harold Oetzel and Mrs. Vernon Whitman, both of Chicago, and Mrs. Vincent Eppel, Muscatine; and 11 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon at the home and 2 o’clock at the Cedar Street Methodist Episcopal church. The burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The Wittich Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
