627Helen Virginia Girard1921-2007
Helen Virginia Girard passed away peacefully, in the presence of her daughters, early Saturday morning, May 5, 2007, from complications of kidney failure. Helen was born and raised in Chicago, the eldest of four sisters to Philip and Charlotte Seskind.
During World War II, Helen was widowed when the submarine her husband, Ken Bolger, was assigned to was lost in the China Sea.
Helen moved to Los Angeles and was introduced to John Girard. They were married on Feb. 14, 1948. Their two daughters, Charlene and Georgene, completed the family. Helen and John moved from the San Fernando Valley to Visalia 13 years ago. Helen volunteered at the American Cancer Society’s Discovery Shop and enjoyed membership in a wonderful chapter of the Red Hat Society. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, John, and her sister, June.
She is survived by sisters Marilyn Anderson and Janet Gianneschi; daughters Charlene Weinstein and Georgene Sackerson; sons-in-law Burton Weinstein and Roger Sackerson; grandchildren Jennifer Fitch, David Weinstein, and Alison Sackerson; great-grandsons John and Bradley Fitch; cousin Beverly Silvers; and numerous other cousins, nieces, and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Tulare County. The family is especially grateful to the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff of the Kaweah Delta Hospital dialysis department, Quail Park and Hospice, for their kindness and dedication. Private funeral services will be held in Los Angeles.
